ROLLER SKATING RINK POPPING UP THIS WEEKEND

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, a temporary roller rink will be installed at the Village at Leesburg with free skating for all.

Once upon a time, teenagers would go skating at the local roller skating rink with friends or their sweetheart. It’s a romantic image right out of the 1950s (or surely the 1970s). Now, for Valentine’s Day, the Village of Leesburg has announced they will bring roller skating back with a temporary “pop up” roller rink.

The outdoor rink will be placed in the Village Plaza area in the center of the complex for five days — from this Saturday, Feb. 10 through Tuesday, Feb. 14. Hours will be 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day, except Sunday when the rink will be open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. And best of all — it’s free. There will be roller skates available to use at no charge, or you can bring your own. However, rollerblades aren’t allowed.

To add to the romantic fun, there will also be free horse-drawn carriage rides on Valentine’s Day from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
