DELI ITALIANO EXPANDING WITH ICE CREAM
The Sweet Scoop ice cream shop (and before that, Haagen Dazs) at Lansdowne Towne Center has closed, but ice cream will still be in the cards for local shoppers. Managers at Deli Italiano next door say the restaurant will be expanding into the former Sweet Scoop space. There will be additional seating for guests, and Deli Italiano will be adding ice cream to their menu this spring. Hooray!

FIRST WHISKEY FROM LOCAL GRAINS DEBUTING IN LANSDOWNE
Coton & Rye, a Virginia tavern at the Lansdowne Resort & Spa, is getting ready to unveil a new whiskey produced especially for the resort. Made by Catoctin Creek Distilling in Purcellville, the rye for the whiskey was grown at Morven Park in Leesburg. According to the distillery, it’s the first legal batch of alcohol made with Loudoun-grown grains since Prohibition. A launch party for the new libation will be held March 23 at Coton & Rye.
