MAMMA ROCKS FOOD TRUCK ROLLING OUT IN ASHBURN

An Ashburn catering company is taking its gourmet sandwiches on the road.

Mamma Rocks, a local catering company run by an Ashburn couple, is getting ready to debut their new food truck next month which will serve homemade sandwiches and sides to hungry customers around Ashburn and Northern Virginia.

Kristina and Brian Lehmbeck started Mamma Rocks three years ago. The name came about when their then 7-year-old daughter succinctly said “mom’s food rocks.” Kristina is the culinary guru behind the company’s success — creating a wide variety of dishes completely from scratch. Those dishes have become the foundation for the new food truck’s menu of gourmet sandwiches.

“The sandwiches on the truck are inspired by meals that Kris has developed over the years,” said Brian. “She is turning them into sandwiches.”

The menu of creative sandwiches includes breakfast items like the Egg White Confetti Sammie and the California Girl Griddle Melt. Lunch time sandwiches include the Meaty Mamma and the Okie Dokie Artichokie. They will also serve homemade Roasted Red Bell Pepper and Tomato Soup and a from-scratch Mamma’s Creamy Mac & Cheese.

The couple takes possession of their new truck on March 23 and, after a few weeks of testing, they hope to begin serving sandwiches from it in April.

Initially, Kris and Brian will focus on breakfasts and lunches. Each day, Mamma Rocks will use social media to announce which sandwiches are being served that day as well as the location where the truck can be found. They plan on serving Ashburn and Loudoun locales, but say Fairfax County also may be part of their weekly schedule. They are also in talks with local wineries and breweries about bringing the truck to those locations on weekends.

“We live in Ashburn. Our kitchen is in Ashburn. This is going to be an Ashburn-focused food truck,” Brian said. “We hope to stay as local as possible.”
