RESTAURANTS AND AUTO CENTER PROPOSED FOR ROUTE 28 LAND

The large tract of undeveloped land sits just across 28 from the Wegman’s and Target at the Dulles 28 Centre.

The Washington Business Journal today reported that a company has applied for four zoning special exceptions in order to build a large retail development along Route 28/Sully Road.

Here’s the gist of what they’re reporting:

  • The project would be near the intersection of West Church Road and Atlantic Boulevard. That’s just across Route 28 from the Wegman’s supermarket and the Dulles 28 Centre shopping center.
  • The plans include a car rental and sales lot for Enterprise Car Rental, as well as a large convenience store/gas station, a larger-sized restaurant and a smaller fast-food restaurant.

The article says no specific restaurants or gas stations are named in the proposal. We find it interesting that another large gas station/c-store is being considered for a spot just a mile or two up the road from where two other uber-gas stations are preparing to open — the Wawa and the Sheetz along Old Ox Road.

For more details, we encourage you to check out the Washington Business Journal, but you’ll have to be a subscriber, or at least know someone who is, since the article is currently behind a paywall here.
