TEPITO TEX MEX GRILL CLOSES IN LANSDOWNE

The restaurant had only been open about a year before it apparently closed this week.

Tepito Tex Mex Grill has closed in the Lansdowne Town Center after roughly a year in business. The doors are locked, lights are off and center representatives confirm the closure.

The well-reviewed restaurant, known for its margaritas and its fajitas, is the latest in a string of eateries to operate in that space. It was previously Roxy’s Rotisserie Chicken before it became Tepito.

It’s surprising as the dining scene at Lansdowne Town Center has been picking up in recent months with stalwarts such as Not Your Average Joe’s and the recently expanded Deli Italiano joined by the new French Hound Brasserie and Ford’s Fish Shack. Mr. Sushi & Mrs. Roll, a new sushi place, will be opening soon and there are rumors circulating of more restaurants to come. No word yet on who will take over the Tepito space.

They come and go, but there has been a lot of restaurants not make it in that shopping center over the years. Maybe too much competition. Not Your Average Joe’s just does very well there, so they have the secret formula in that awesome free bread. 🙂

I think there are so many of that kind of food – like Moe’s not far away
Perhaps lack of promo & happy hour specials

Restaurants bomb in there because the rent is through the roof and One Loudoun draws the crowds. BF Saul needs to stop charging D.C. pricing!

We loved Tepito. It was our Friday dinner place. So very sorry to see it go
