HAIL & HOG CLOSES AT ONE LOUDOUN

The well-known restaurant at One Loudoun announced it would enter into bankruptcy proceedings back in January.

Many of you saw this coming — and today comes the news that the Hail & Hog Kitchen and Tap at One Loudoun has closed for good. An employee confirmed the closure to The Burn.

As we initially reported back in January, the restaurant had entered into bankruptcy proceedings but planned to stay open while they restructured and got their affairs in order. But seven months later, apparently the situation had become untenable.

It will be interesting to see what business eventually takes over that space. We can only assume that One Loudoun will be eager to fill it. It’s one of the larger spaces at the center and right on a prominent corner facing the plaza. Stay tuned.

There are lots of “upscale” restaurants at One Loudoun now, would be nice to see something slightly below “upscale” that is a bit more reasonably priced.

One of the All American Restaurants would be ideal! I.e. coastal flats, jacksons, sweet water, or founding farmers etc…

    Founding Farmers would be great!

How about a Houstons? Anyone remember their Rockville Pike location?

Houston’s would be fantastic. I go every time I’m in New York. Wish they would bring one back here! Think it would be do well.

I’m with Mike & Barbara – Great American Restaurants or Silver Diner. Although, I’d prefer Silver Diner, since there isn’t one in LoCo.

I’d love to see a Jackson’s fill that spot, love the Reston location. I am not a fan of Silver Diner at all and I hope that never happens- there are too many better options than that grease-fest of a place.
I think we will have more open space at One Loudoun soon as it can’t be long before Aggio closes. That place is always empty and it is trying way too hard to be upscale- there is no need for that in an Italian restaurant.

I love Silver Diner, because it’s the opposite of a grease-fest. The menu has many healthy, locally-sourced, and organic options.
I’ve also been going to Jackson’s and other GAR for over a decade and enjoy them, as well. Either direction would be fine by me.

I hear that the company that is taking over the space is called walk-on’s, a sports bar with Louisiana cuisine.

Where did you hear that Jason? Any other details? Would love to try and track that down.

The challenge with One Loudoun now is the restaurants aren’t new anymore and the honeymoon period is over. You’ll see places like Matchbox continue to thrive but I heard a lot of bad things about Eddie Merlot’s. Someone will grab Hail quickly because it is in a prime space but it will need to offer something OL does not have yet. Seafood, perhaps? Microbrewery? Tacos? Still waiting for that ballpark though, that would put OL on the map for the modern town center.
