SQUISITO PIZZA & PASTA OPENS DOORS TUESDAY

The new Ashburn restaurant features an extensive menu of Italian dishes.

Ashburn has a new pizza joint — and all signs are pointing to a hit. Squisito Pizza & Pasta in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center has been quietly hosting guests since Sunday to give their staff some practice. The Burn stopped in tonight and had a wonderful meal of pizza, calzones, garlic knots and wings. (We were hungry. Don’t judge.)

At Squisito (emphasis is on the second syllable – squi-SEE-toh), you order and pay at a counter and are then given a number for your table. Your food is brought out to you. Most of the dishes are made-to-order, but for folks in a hurry, they do have a decent selection of pizzas available quickly by the slice, as well as their (soon to be) legendary garlic knots. Said garlic knots come dripping in buttery garlic goodness.

Besides the extensive New York-style pizza options, like any good Italian restaurant, the lengthy menu includes soups, salads, pastas, sub sandwiches, calzones and even a “Mangia Healthy” section.

Squisito is located at the western end of the shopping center, in the space formerly occupied by a California Tortilla restaurant. While it’s officially open to the public starting tomorrow (Tuesday), they are planning a grand opening event for sometime in the next few weeks.

Enjoyed the pasta (with meatballs) and pizza. I prefer this type of pizza vs MOD.
