CAPTAIN CATOCTIN’S OUT, CHRISTMAS BAR IN

The downtown Leesburg crab house has closed after four months in business.

Well, that’s a bummer. After months of waiting for downtown Leesburg to get its own Maryland-style crab house, Captain Catoctin’s Crabs & Concoctions has closed after just four months in business. The restaurant at 14 Loudoun Street says Sunday was its last day.

The owners made the announcement this week, saying the location wasn’t working out. In its place, a temporary holiday-themed bar called “Falala Christmas Pop-up Bar” will soon open. It will feature special cocktails as well as holiday drinks such as mulled wine and spiked ciders. There will be fun events like an Ugly Sweater night and a Drinking with Santa night.

The brand name Captain Catoctin’s will be held onto in the hopes of re-opening in the future. In the meanwhile, Falala Christmas Pop-Up Bar is scheduled to open for business on Nov. 20. It’s run will end with a big New Year’s Eve bash. And then the owners will begin working on a new restaurant concept for the location to debut in 2018.
