Sad news for fans of potent Cuban coffees and sweet and savory pastelitos. The Colada Shop — a Cuban-style cafe in Sterling has closed its doors for good.
The shop — which opened in 2016 — was located in the Cascades Overlook center at Bartholomew Fair Drive and Benedict Drive, just south of Route 7.
The location had closed due to the pandemic, but was expected to re-open. But plans apparently changed. It’s been removed from the official Colada Shop website and an employee confirmed the closure. There are two other Colada Shop locations — both in DC. One is on T Street NW and the other recently opened at the Wharf.
On the bright side, we’re told that the Cascades Overlook center is already in serious discussions with two possible replacement restaurants. So stay tuned — we should have news soon.
