REVIEW: FAMOUS TOASTERY HOT NEW BRUNCH SPOT

A visit to Ashburn’s hot new breakfast makes for a delightful morning. Heads up, IHOP, you’ve got a new challenger.

On a chilly Sunday morning, we decided to venture out for breakfast to the new Famous Toastery that opened Nov. 11 at the Loudoun Station center off Shellhorn Road. And the verdict is: Ashburn has a great new spot for brunch.

Here are the highlights: Our 15 minute wait for a table was made more pleasant by the warm sun shining and the complimentary coffee for waiting guests. Once seated, we discovered an interesting feature of Famous Toastery — it’s called “Every Server is Your Server” — meaning any server walking by can help you. And indeed they did. One server took our drink order, another our food order. Two more brought the food, while other servers refilled beverages, cleared plates and took our payment. We counted at least seven different staff members who waited on us, and a manager stopped by to help out too.

Our food was quite good. When we ordered corned beef hash, we were offered “regular” or “crispy.” It came mixed with a heavy dose of potatoes, topped with two eggs and some hollandaise sauce. A traditional eggs Benedict was spot on and came with seasoned breakfast potatoes. Because we’re gluttons, we also enjoyed the complimentary corn bread and a biscuit covered in a delicious sausage gravy with a touch of sage.

Famous Toastery has an enclosed patio at the rear for additional seating, and a manager told us in warmer weather there will be cafe seating outside as well. She also mentioned that Famous Toastery is looking at opening at least three more locations in Loudoun — most likely Leesburg, South Riding and Sterling.
