Thousands upon thousands of used books are stacked high on tables and piled in boxes on the floor. Recent best sellers in both hardcover and paperback. Children’s books. Sci-fi. Thriller. Romance. History. Biography. Self-help. Parenting. Plus thousands of DVDs too. (Apparently they had more DVDs donated this year than ever before. No wonder — with people moving to streaming movies and TV shows instead buying them on a disc.)

A line of some 25 people waited for the doors to open at 5 p.m. It’s fun wading through the piles of books — looking for that favorite author or coveted title. We got a bunch of Stephen King, some James Patterson, some early 1960s sci-fi and a foreign language textbook.

The sale, put on by the Friends of the Ashburn Library, runs Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Happy Hunting!
