HIGH-END WINERY, BREWERY TOURS COMING TO ASHBURN

An Ashburn couple is getting ready to launch Cork & Keg Tours, a luxury tour operator that will take guests on day trips to Loudoun’s many wineries and breweries — and do it all in high style.

The company’s sprinter-style touring van will be outfitted like a limousine, with comfortable seating, a television, a sound system, a refrigerator and more.

On a typical six-hour tour, guests will visit roughly four wineries or breweries. The locations chosen will be grouped in clusters, to minimize driving time. While in the van, guests will be treated to complimentary non-alcoholic beverages as well as snacks. Cork & Keg is also exploring having gourmet lunches provided by area restaurants. A certified wine educator will be available to offer tips and advice on tastings and wines.

Cork & Keg Tours is the brainchild of Renee and Donald Ventrice. (Many Ashburnians may know Renee as the spa director for Woofies Mobile Pet Spa, or from her role as the emcee of Broadlands Live events.)

“We are not going for the party bus scene,” Renee said. “You’re going to have an amazing time, but its going to be more of a sophisticated experience.”

The company will offer both “blended” and “private” tours. Private tours are when a group (maximum of 12 people) rents the entire van for a customized tour. A blended tour is when individual seats will be available and you will tour with other guests.

Cork & Keg hopes to start taking reservations in March and to begin running tours in mid-April.
