Big news for Ashburn brew lovers — both the beer and coffee varieties. The Burn has learned that a brewery and a coffee shop are in serious talks to set up shop in the heart of Old Ashburn, right along Ashburn Road. Even better, they’re planning on moving into a historic building — the Old Ashburn Mill.
Dirt Farm Brewing is a popular brewery out in Bluemont. Now, we’re hearing that Steve Zurschmeide, from the family that owns and operates Dirt Farm, is intending to create a new brewery here in Ashburn. The name of the brewery is yet TBD.
Meanwhile, Juanita Tool owned and operated LoCo Joe Coffee in Purcellville for more than three years. She closed it this past December in order relocate to Ashburn — also to a space in the Old Ashburn Mill.
The 104-year-old mill sits right along the W&OD Trail, next to the Carolina Brothers Pit Barbecue restaurant. (The mill used to house the Olde Mill Furniture Co.) No word yet on when these new businesses intend to open, but when they do — people enjoying the W&OD Trail are going to have some great choices if they want to stop for a bite to eat or a beverage.

That’s exciting!!
Can’t wait! Great news.
OK, but where are patrons going to park???
Sounds good. Been to Dirt Farm once and I liked it. Hopefully, this brewery will be just as good, or better. I do wonder where people will park though. There are just a few spots now.
Any update on this idea? They have gone silent.
Any updates in 2018?
Nothing. We’ve called and emailed several times and no response.
Hoping this comes to fruition soon! Please keep us posted if you hear anything else.
It’s been more than a year and no apparent movement. I’ve called for updates, but no one responds. I’m guessing it’s dead, although you never know.
