SNEAK PEEK AT THE FRENCH HOUND’S NEW MENU

The popular Middleburg restaurant is relocating to the Lansdowne Town Center.

Buzz is building around the French Hound Brasserie, the new French restaurant preparing to open at the Lansdowne Town Center — and today, Chef John-Gustin Birkitt and his wife, Marny, shared their new menu with The Burn.

For lunch, traditional bistro sandwiches such as a Croque Madame and a Chicken & Brie Panini sit beside a Grilled Salmon BLT and a Merguez Grillé, a spicy lamb sandwich with roasted red peppers, cartelized onions and manchego cheese.

Lunch Menu

At dinner, the ever popular Steak Frites joins Lobster Risotto, a variety of mussels, and much more, including Ailes de Raie — a pan-fried skatewing in a lemon-caper brown butter sauce atop couscous and green beans.

Dinner Menu

Both the lunch and dinner menus feature many of the iconic staples of a French restaurant — Duck Confit, Escargots, Beef Carpaccio, French Onion Soup and the classic Mesclun Salad.

The Burn first broke the news back in January that the French Hound was relocating to Lansdowne after 10 years in a charming farmhouse in Middleburg. (See the original story here.) The Birkitts decided to move their business to the Leesburg/Ashburn area in order to reach more customers. Indeed, the new restaurant will have 150 seats, triple what the Middleburg location had.

The French Hound crew is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the restaurant. There will be a large bar area, a cozy dining room, a lovely outdoor dining patio and a room for private parties.

Many memories from the previous location have made their way to Lansdowne. Some of the original wallpaper and paint colors along with decorative pieces will be familiar to longtime guests, while new features such as subway tile and an embossed tin ceiling over the bar add even more Gallic touches.

Look for the French Hound Brasserie to open its doors to the public in early May.

Unfortunately they have not provided an online link to their menu yet, so I scanned it the best I could.
