PORTSIDE COFFEE & BAKERY OPENS IN LEESBURG

The new shop specializes in international coffees and pastries.

Ashburn residents who wander out to Leesburg for dining or shopping or the DMV have a new place to stop: Portside Coffee & Bakery. The new coffeeshop opened quietly last week in the Crescent Place center tucked a block off of South King Street in the downtown.

Portside’s menu offers a variety of international teas and coffees, including a nitro coffee poured from a tap. They also have breads, breakfast pastries, bagels, grab-and-go items and more. But what really sets Portside apart from other coffee shops is its extensive dessert menu. You could call it a dessert shop as well as a coffee shop or bakery.

Blood Orange Mascarpone Mousse, Chocolate Caramel Crunch, Creme Brûlée, and Macarons are just some of the items on the “Sweets” menu. We’re especially intrigued by the Torta della Nonna, or the Grandmother’s Cake, a lemon cream pastry with pine nuts, almonds and powdered sugar.

The coffee house is also offering sorbets and gelato from Italy, perfect as we head into the summer months. Portside Coffee will offer both indoors and outdoor seating.
