NEW, BIGGER BOOKS-A-MILLION OPENING JUNE 22

The new store will replace the tiny BAM that has sat next to the Giant supermarket for years.

The tiny Books-A-Million store in the Leesburg Plaza shopping center is scheduled to close next Wednesday, June 21 — and open the very next day in a new, larger space in the very same shopping center.

Despite promotional posters that say opening in July, employees say they are ahead of schedule and next week is the big day. We sure hope so. The new BAM (as the recently-installed sign above the door reads in giant letters) is three times larger than the current space and will have a larger selection of books and other merchandise.

Staff members are already busy setting up in the new space. A peek in the window shows cash registers in place, shelves up, books being stocked. In this digital age of online shopping, The Burn is looking forward to a brick-and-mortar bookstore to browse in and wile away some rainy afternoons.
