The list of new restaurants opening in downtown Leesburg just keeps growing. Cocina on Market, a new Mexican restaurant, is under construction in a charming former bank building at 7 West Market Street. (Cocina is the Spanish word for “kitchen.”)
The menu at Cocina on Market will focus on authentic Mexican street food, specializing in cuisine from the Oaxaca, Puebla and Veracruz regions. The bar will prominently feature tequila and mezcal.
The building at 7 West Market, which reportedly dates to 1929, is currently getting a make-over with all types of Mexican accents being added. There will also be a rooftop patio looking out over the skyline and streets of downtown Leesburg.
No firm opening date yet, but word is the owners — who have restaurants in Purcellville and Lovettsville — are targeting sometime in July.
We stopped in here Friday, nov 24 th. It’s great!!!! We sat at the bar which has an extensive high-end spirits collection….mostly tequila..of course. The bar tenders are very maticulious. If you don’t like your drink they will try, try again to perfection to get it right. The ceviche was awesome!!! Very fresh and tasty. A little pricey but worth it.
