NEW SANTINI’S LOCATION UNDERWAY IN ASHBURN

They hope to open sometime in May.

As The Burn first reported back in November, the local New York style deli chain Santini’s was looking at a location in Ashburn on Waxpool Road. (See original story here.) We’re happy to report that the deal is done and construction is underway.

Santini’s has leased a space in the “Ashburn Eats” center on Waxpool just west of Loudoun County Parkway. (Yes, that’s the name of the restaurant center. A sign will be going up at some point.) It’s the same center where Moe’s, Five Guys and The V are located. Santini’s is taking a 3,200 s.f. spot next to Haveli that has been vacant for years, ever since the short-lived Pizza Go Round closed in 2012.

The Santini’s menu is made up of subs and sandwiches, salads and sidescalzones and pizzas. Last year, the brand sold more than 175,000 pizzas at its six stores.

The Santini’s brand was founded in 2003 in Northern Virginia and currently has six locations — Sterling, Oakton, Reston, Fairfax, Chantilly and McLean. Sterling was the original one and there’s a high awareness of Santini’s around Ashburn.

“I think we’ll be a good fit for Ashburn because people in Ashburn know about us thanks to Sterling and Chantilly,” said Robert Lesando, one of the partners behind the brand. “We’ve gotten so many calls and emails from people saying you’ve got to come to Ashburn.”

Right now, the company is targeting a May opening for the Ashburn location.

I love Santini’s- I eat at the one in Reston about once a week. Good variety, good service, etc. always a good lunch spot.
However, I think this location will not be great for them. Too many restaurants come and go from that location and I hear it’s because the landlord causes issues with tenants, plus the parking isn’t great.
I thought a bigger space like the former Bertucci’s space (will soon be Bungalow’s Ale House) was a good fit for Santini’s- great visibility and plenty of parking over there.
A big space like that would have been good for those postgame youth sports lunches and dinners.
As a transplanted New Yorker, I love the decor of Santini’s!

    Loudoun County needs a Toojays!

Toojays is limited to South Florida. It’s not the best, but probably better than some options around here.

I love this new location and I love Santini’s!! Awesome food, with great enthusiasm and pride for what they serve. Pizza, wings, onion rings, steak and cheese…. it’s all GREAT!
