B ONE LOUDOUN LAUNCHES “CULT CLASSICS” MENU

Wisconsin Cheese Curds and a PB&J Burger are among the fan favorites.

Ashburn’s most awkwardly named restaurant is launching a special menu this week that celebrates some of the most popular dishes in its history. The Burn is a sucker for special menus at restaurants and b One Loudoun has a doozy of a “Cult Classics” menu starting Monday.

Many locals may not realize that the small chain started more than a decade ago in New England where they have a bunch of locations under the name Plan B. But when they came to the DC market (there’s one downtown as well), that name didn’t fly so they changed it to b. Just b. There’s b Penn Quarter and b One Loudoun. Their tag line is “burgers. beer. bourbon.” which some people think is the name of the restaurant.

Despite the funny name, b One Loudoun has some bang up food. On a recent visit, we tried something called Firecracker Cauliflower that was great, and a Cobb Salad with Truffle Ranch dressing was delicious.

Now to the new menu items. In their 12 year history, b restaurants have gone through lots of menu changes. So this week, they are bringing back some fan favorites that people request over and over.

The most startling is a PB&J Burger, featuring a beef patty, American cheese, smooth peanut butter and bacon jam. As crazy as it sounds, we have had friends tell us that — for some weird reason — peanut butter is actually great on a hamburger. We’re skeptical but will give it a try.

Other items on the limited time menu including Wisconsin Cheese Curds (Go Packers!), Lobster Hush Puppies (buttermilk hush puppies stuffed with Maine lobster, red peppers and scallions and served with house-made ranch), an East Coast Burger topped with roasted tomato, fizzled onions, lobster and a horseradish cream (image at top), and Cider-Brined Pork Chops served with sautéed Brussels sprouts, smashed sweet potatoes and an apple compote.

You had us at cheese curds. The special menu only runs from Feb. 26 to March 16, so if you’ve been jonesing for a hamburger with peanut butter on it, now’s your chance.

Wow…sounds interesting. I have to admit, I’m one of those who thought the name of the place was Burgers, Beer and Bourbon. Figuring it was just another burger place in LoCo, I haven’t tried it. Cheese curds? Yes please!
