LAYERED CAKE PATISSERIE ABRUPTLY CLOSES IN LEESBURG

The shop was popular for its fresh-baked croissants.

Shock in the local cake lovers community as news spreads that Layered Cake Patisserie in Leesburg has closed permanently. The announcement came via social media and the store’s website this morning and is effective immediately.

Layered Cake Patisserie started out as a stand at a Leesburg farmers’ market, the brainchild of pastry chefs Barbara and Anthony Chavez.

Several years ago, they opened a retail location on Catoctin Circle in Leesburg. They quickly garnered a following — not only for their whimsical cakes but also for their popular pastries.

No word what led to the sudden closure, but lots of Leesburgians with a strong sweet tooth are going to miss Layered Cake.

(Thanks to readers Peter Fedders and Heather Richey who both tipped us off to this news.)

I am so sorry to hear this. They were good! It is so hard to find a real bakery!

I hate to see this one go as their products were amazing.

However, their hours were very “Leesburg” meaning that they closed at 5pm. I was really only able to visit them on Saturday and a few mornings when my commute would allow me to arrive at the office later.
