AR WORKSHOP HOLDS GRAND OPENING THURSDAY

The DIY craft boutique brings friends together to work on home decor projects.

Crafty folks in the greater Ashburn metropolitan area have been on pins and needles, waiting for the new AR Workshop to open at the Village at Leesburg. Well, good news, all you glue gun aficionados: AR Workshop officially opens this Thursday.

AR Workshop — which stands for Anders and Ruff, the founders — is a DIY boutique craft center where guests can participate in hands-on workshops and make home decor items. There is also a retail section with already completed crafts for sale.

Area entrepreneurs Michelle Shepard and Jacqueline Maglione are the owners of the new location. AR Workshop got its start in 2016 and there are now more than 60 locations open or in the works around the country. The workshop offers girls nights out, birthday parties, fundraisers and other group events where friends can gather together to socialize while making crafts projects. Sessions are by reservation only.

The grand opening takes place at 6 p.m. Thursday with a ribbon cutting out front of AR Workshop. It’s followed by a reception in the store where guests can learn more about the concept and the types of crafts you can make there. The event is open to the public.
