COWBELL KITCHEN FOUNDER PASSES AWAY SUDDENLY

Friends, family and regulars at the bakery are reeling at the news.

Terribly sad news coming out of Leesburg, where the young co-owner of the popular Cowbell Kitchen bakery passed away suddenly last week. Kaeley “KK” Brady was just 23. She reportedly fell ill several weeks ago and passed away at Fairfax Hospital last Thursday.

The Burn first told you about Cowbell Kitchen last year when KK and her business partner, Cheryl “Cher” Strasser, opened a brick-and-mortar location on East Market Street. This came after the duo became well known at area farmer’s markets for their delicious food.

Cheryl intends to keep operating Cowbell Kitchen. The shop was just preparing to expand their coffee offerings with a two area businessmen who had rented the upstairs for a new coffeehouse. “Fortunately, Cher has had lots of support from the community. People have been donating their time to help,” said one of the coffeehouse partners, Christian Behrle. “Our plan is to continue moving forward. We’re motivated more than ever to make this work.”

KK’s family and friends have set up a memorial fund for her. You can get more details and make donations at this link.
