There is a story circulating on social media tonight that will warm your heart on this chilly, damp night. It’s about a mom, her children and a local restaurant that understands what it means to be part of the community.

This evening a mom named Marina shared a story on “The Original Real Housewives of Loudoun County” Facebook page. It’s about what happened when she took her family out to eat Sunday evening.

“Last night, I took two of my kids to the Ford’s Fish Shack in the Lansdowne Town Center for dinner. We go there all the time, so it was not a big deal,” Marina wrote. “My son is 13 and he has severe autism. He’s usually really good in public places but last night, towards the end of the dinner, he started having a really bad panic attack. Having my four-year-old daughter on my right and my poor son on my left, losing his mind while me trying to calm him down, felt like an impossible task. The restaurant manager ran up to my table and said, ‘What can I do to help?’ I said, ‘Please take my daughter and all of our stuff and I will take my son to the car.’ He did. Once my son was in the car, he immediately calmed down and was OK. I walked back to the restaurant to collect my daughter and all of our belongings, and to pay the bill. The manager met me outside and said, ‘Ma’am, you are our regulars. You live in the community. This dinner is on us. Just get home safe and we will see you back soon.’ I started crying.”

“When we got home, I called the manager to thank him again and asked if I can still pay my bill over the phone or at least give my server a tip,” Marina continued. “He said, ‘The last thing on any of our minds, including your server’s, was money. We just wanted to make sure you were all safe. Come back and see us [again] soon. This dinner is on us.'”

Marina goes on to say that she is grateful for the compassion and empathy shown by the staff and management at Ford’s Fish Shack, calling the experience “truly priceless.”

The Burn spoke to the manager at Ford’s who was on duty last night. He confirmed the story, but asked to remain anonymous. As a father of five children himself, he said his response was “just human instinct.”

Well done, Ford’s. Well done.

What a wonderful story but not surprised. Ford’s is really a part of our community and you always feel at home when you’re at any of the restaurants!
