7-ELEVEN TAKING OVER TWO ASHBURN CONVENIENCE STORES, ONE IN LEESBURG

Locations in Broadlands and Ashburn Village will sport the new moniker.

(UPDATED: This story has been updated to reflect an A Plus Sunoco location in Leesburg is also making the change to 7-Eleven.)

Three local convenience stores at Sunoco gas stations are undergoing a transition as they move from the A Plus mini mart brand to the well-known 7-Eleven brand.

It’s happening at the Sunoco in the Broadlands on Truro Parish Drive and we’re told also at the Sunoco in the Ashburn Village Center off Gloucester Parkway. Meanwhile, a manager at the A Plus store at the Sunoco gas station on Market Street in Leesburg confirms their store is changing this week to 7-Eleven.

The Broadlands location has already started the transformation — 7-Eleven has started to appear on some equipment and signs. A new pastry case is installed and waiting to be put into use.

And staff tell us they have already started preparing some of 7-Eleven’s famous c-store food like chicken wingsbreakfast sandwiches and Big Gulps.

These are the only three locations we are aware of making the change, but there could be others around Eastern Loudoun. We’ve made some calls and will update this story if we find more.

Look for the interior signage and 7-Eleven products to start appearing this month. And exterior signage is tentatively scheduled to appear in January if not sooner.

The Sunoco in Downtown Leesburg at the Fort Evans Rd/East Market St. also will be changing from A-Plus to 7-Eleven as there was a banner outside the front of the store.

I saw Big Gulp window signage at the Exxon at Ashburn Farm Parkway and Claiborne.

Mean while the he 7-11 sign came off our mini mart at the Farmwell Hunt/Pipeline Plaza months ago and no new sign has appeared since

This is a nationwide change as last year Sunoco sold their retail division to 7-Eleven.

Yes, thank you. We saw that. But it doesn’t apparently apply to all Sunoco c-stores in the area. We spoke to several here in Ashburn that are not changing. Has to do with ownership of the locations.

The station outside Dulles airport is also going to 7-11.

The one is Ashburn Village has a auto shop. I wonder if that will stay. If so, then it could be the world’s smallest 7-11. lol
