CLAIBORNE PARKWAY EXTENSION SCHEDULED TO OPEN JANUARY 9

The new road connects Croson Lane to Ryan Road.

Less than three weeks to go. If the schedule holds, the final stretch of Claiborne Parkway in Ashburn will open to vehicle traffic on Wednesday, January 9

The eagerly anticipated roadway will connect Croson Lane to Ryan Road, providing a main four-lane road between Brambleton and the rest of Ashburn.

Nearby traffic signs have started flashing “on or about 1-9-19.” (No, this is not “Wheel of Fortune.” For some reason, many of the letters don’t show up in an iPhone photo, but trust us, they are there.)

According to the Loudoun County Department of Transportation, the tentative plan calls for a ribbon cutting for the new road at 8:30 a.m. Following the event, traffic will likely be allowed to begin using the roadway sometime during that day, although it may not be immediately following the ribbon cutting.

Officials stress that the January 9 date is tentative. The Virginia DOT has to issue final approval before the road can be opened. Stay tuned and The Burn will keep you posted.

Does south end of Claiborne actually start off Loudoun Cty Pkwy? I missed it the other day.
