BUNKER SPORTS CAFE IN LEESBURG GETS NEW NAME, NEW MENU

It’s now called The Loudoun Kitchen & Bar.

Bunker Sports Cafe, a sports bar in the Leesburg Plaza on East Market Street, is no more. Yes, it’s technically still there, but the owners have wrapped up a major rebranding — finishing with the announcement of a new name: The Loudoun Kitchen & Bar.

Bunkers, as most folks call it, has been there for more than a decade. But over the past 10 months or so, they’ve been making changes including decor updates and gradual menu improvements.

The big TVs are still there, but the goal is less sports bar, more focus on good, high-quality food.

Gone are the Cheese Curds, in is the Italian Sausage Fondue. No more Steak & Cheese panini and Turkey panini, now they have a Cubano panini and an Italian Pesto panini. Besides tweaks to their steak burgers and entrees, they’ve added new pasta dishes, lighter dishes and new sides. See the full revamped menu here.

A temporary banner with the new logo hangs over the restaurant’s entrance and a new sign will be coming soon.

Will they be hiring waiters/waitresses that aren’t racist jerks? Will the bartenders be doing more than spritzing a drop of alcohol over the cocktails?

Also, will they do away with the iron gates that allow the leatherette and “weekend Harley” types to loiter and smoke outside the establishment? If you are attempting to upscale, you need to start there. The food has always been surprisingly good here, but the service has been consistently spotty and having bouncers in black t-shirts and a cover charge at the door just won’t cut it. Sounds like they don’t know what they want to be?
