ION SKATING CENTER GRAND OPENING JUNE 15-16

The new facility bills itself as the largest ice arena in Virginia.

Local figure skaters and hockey players have eagerly been awaiting the opening of the new Ion International Training Center in Leesburg. And now we have a date — this week, the center announced the grand opening will be June 15 and 16.

The massive new facility is under construction at the Compass Creek development near Battlefield Parkway and 267.  The center will be a 100,000 s.f. ice arena — the largest in Virginia — offering hockey and figure skating programs, ice shows, tournaments, competitions and more.

It joins the new Leesburg Walmart at Compass Creek, which opens May 22. Other future tenants at the center will include an At Home store, a gas station and potentially several restaurants.
