Velocity Wings Express Coming to Ashburn

The new wing restaurant will focus on carry-out and delivery.

Velocity Wings, the popular restaurant brand known for its chicken wings and burgers, will open a new version of its concept next month in Ashburn’s Goose Creek Village shopping center.

It was last October that The Burn broke the news that Velocity Wings was exploring an Ashburn location. Now, we have learned they will indeed open here, but it won’t be a regular sit-down restaurant. Rather, it will be called Velocity Wings Express and it will offer delivery and carry-out only.

The new Velocity Wings Express will share kitchen space with the Social House restaurant at Goose Creek. Current plans call for a section of the Social House’s dining room to be turned into it’s own miniature storefront where you can pick up your orders. Delivery will probably be in a four-mile radius of the store, and food delivery services such as Grub Hub will also serve the Velocity Wings Express.

See those doors to the left? Those could be the new doors into Velocity Wings Express.

This unusual arrangement isn’t as unusual as it sounds when you consider both the Social House brand and the Velocity Wings brand are owned by Jim Speros, a former Redskins coach and serial restauranteur. He has six Velocity Wings locations open, with a seventh coming to Fairfax this summer.

While it won’t be the full Velocity Wings menu of the sit-down restaurants, we’re told the Velocity Wings Express menu will include all their favorite wings and sauces, as well as several burgers and other items.

Speros hopes to have his new express wing restaurant open by early July. Believe it or not, we’re told July 1 is the current target date.
