Anyone who has driven near Belmont Ridge Road and Sycolin Road in the past year has seen the tremendous construction underway on the southwest corner. The project is part of the Goose Creek Village development and the centerpiece is a large new apartment community known as The Heights.
While there will be apartments above, there will be retail at the ground level and we are starting to learn who some of the new tenants could be.
The most intriguing one so far is a new business called The Ashburn Collective. From our understanding, this will be a co-working space, where business people can come in to get work done, hold meetings with clients, etc.
Even better, plans call for the The Ashburn Collective to have a coffee and wine bar that will be open to the pubic. So not only could you hold a business meeting over coffee in the a.m. or wine in the p.m., but anyone can stop in for a beverage.
Other new tenants that we are hearing about for The Heights include a Russian School of Mathematics location, which is a math tutoring center for students that has dozens of centers around the country.
Also, a Stemtree location, which is a Northern Virginia-based educational center for kids focused on science and engineering subjects. It’s currently franchising around NoVa and across the country.
This center is poorly run and has way too much turnover. Several tenants will be closing down this year.
