Potential big news on the retail front as word comes in that At Home, a big box brand of home decor stores, is exploring a Sterling location near the Dulles Town Center shopping mall.
This is especially intriguing because readers of The Burn know that another At Home store is already in the works for Leesburg.
According to documents filed with the county, the Texas-based company is looking at the property at the corner of Atlantic Boulevard and Nokes Boulevard. That’s the huge undeveloped parcel on the corner opposite the Lowe’s Home Improvement store. It’s just a wooded lot right now, surrounded by retail on all sides.
We should stress that this is apparently just in the discussion phase right now. Large companies that want to develop a piece of land do a lot of due diligence first — meeting with county officials and crossing T’s and dotting I’s before they commit to a project.
But if it happens, it means Loudoun would be getting two At Home stores at roughly the same time. The other At Home store is coming to the Compass Creek development in Leesburg, near the new Walmart store and the Ion International skating center.
