Loudoun United Formally Unveils New Stadium

A ribbon cutting was held with team members and local leaders.

Loudoun United FC, the new professional soccer team in Loudoun County, held a formal ribbon cutting for their new stadium today. Segra Field is located at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park in Leesburg.

Team members, Loudoun United executives and county dignitaries were on hand for the event, which included food vendors and a look at the new field — or “pitch” — as well as the stands.

Besides hosting soccer games, local leaders say the stadium could be used for high school graduations, concerts and other community events.

The new team — part of the DC United brand and a farm team for DC’s major league team — will play their first game on the field this Friday, August 9 with a game against the Charlotte Independence at 7:30 p.m.

Is this the same stadium that could seat 5000(plus 8 luxury suites seating up to 24) but only have 500 parking spaces? Add in coaches/team players, media… What was BOS thinking? Sycolin Rd is small road to hold that number of cars. And why isn’t the Red light blinking during the day when nothing is going on? VDOT is a joke when it comes to red lights/roads in Loudoun county.

Major parking failure. Parking slow was a joke as well. And parking a mile away should be free. Wonder if empty seats are scalpers who got burned or those who gave up on parking and went home. On Sycolin road in front of stadium at 7:15 and got to seats at 8:05.
