Black bear visits Arcola neighborhood

Video of the visit was caught on security camera video.

A black bear took a mid-morning stroll though a neighborhood in Arcola, just south of Ashburn. This fellow was spotted emerging from some bushes and walking through the front yard of a home in Briarfield Estates, which is near where Belmont Ridge Road meets Evergreen Mills Road.

Thanks to the proliferation of Nest and Ring camera and security systems, we are becoming aware of just how common it is for wildlife to visit us at our homes.

Fun fact: Did you know black bears are only found in North America, where their population is believed to be around 800,000. They range from Canada to Mexico.

Thanks to The Burn reader Karen Hidler for sending us the video.
