Sign has gone up at new Patel Brothers store

The Indian grocery chain is opening its first Loudoun County store in Ashburn.

Crews have installed the sign at the coming soon Patel Brothers Indian grocery store in Ashburn. The full name is now Patel Brothers Farmer’s Market. The Burn first broke the news about the store back in February.

It’s going into the Ashburn Farm Village Center, which is the same small shopping center with the Buffalo Wing Factory restaurant.

Patel Brothers is an Illinois-based brand with more than 50 locations in nearly two dozen states. Their motto is: “Celebrating Our Food…Our Culture” and they carry such treasured items as karela, black mustard seeds and fresh sitafal.

Patel Brothers has taken over roughly 27,000 s.f. of what used to be Global Foods. Still no word on a tenant for the other 30,000 s.f. space still available. Don’t be surprised if they sub-divide that up into smaller units.

Meanwhile, fans of Indian groceries still have some waiting to do. We’ve left messages about a possible opening date for Patel Brothers, but looking in through the window, there is still much work to be done.

It’s coming, probably within the next month. We spoke with the manager the other day.
