Lansdowne losing two hair salons, part of nationwide closures

The Hair Cuttery and Bubbles Salon are reportedly leaving the Lansdowne Town Center.

Hair salons are not part of The Burn’s usual coverage repertoire, but we found this interesting and thought you might also. Ratner Companies., a Vienna-based company that owns more than 800 barbershops and beauty salons across the country — including the well-known Hair Cuttery brand — has announced it will close 10 percent of its stores. Two of those stores appear to be ones in the Lansdowne Town Center here in Loudoun County.

A couple of weeks ago, The Burn learned that the Hair Cuttery and the Bubbles Salon in Lansdowne were apparently closing. No definitive timeline but according to sources, it’s coming. Two salons at one time seemed surprising. Now with word of the parent company’s national decision and it all makes more sense.

No word on what will be coming into those two locations. A search for new tenants is on. It comes at an exciting time for the Lansdowne Town Center as the new drive-thru Starbucks opens on February 6 and the new Chick-fil-A restaurant should also open soon. And we’re hearing word of other interesting developments as well.

By the way, there could be other Loudoun salons departing as part of the closures, so keep your eyes open.

The problem isn’t with the salons, but rather it’s the exorbitant rent that’s being charged in the Lansdowne TownCenter, imho. Every store is overpriced and I suspect those that will remain own their properties. Just look at the perpetual turnover.
