Local breweries shut down tasting rooms, offer beer to go

Curbside service is the new game in town.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues to hit area businesses hard. At least two area breweries have closed their tasting rooms and switched to a curbside-to-go model for their beer and/or food.

Lost Rhino Brewing in Ashburn made their announcement Monday afternoon.

Our team is continuing to monitor the evolving situation in our community. After many internal discussions, and in an effort to help #flattenthecurve, we have made the decision to suspend full service inside of our Tasting Room,” the Lost Rhino team wrote on social media.

Starting Tuesday, March 17 — a day that would normally be a big day for bars and breweries — Lost Rhino will offer its full food menu as well as beer and wine available via carry out, or they will even bring it out to your car.

Meanwhile, House 6 Brewing Company in Ashburn will also close its tasting room effective Tuesday and instead start offering 10 percent off growler fills, and crowlers at three for $30 — no matter what type beer. And it’s all available for curbside pickup.

We’re hearing many if not most other Loudoun breweries are taking similar steps. We are in uncharted territory here, folks.
