Alamo Drafthouse at One Loudoun temporarily shuts down

The brand has closed nationwide due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As the push to avoid gathering in large groups spreads across the country, movie theaters are feeling the heat. Some are limiting the number of tickets sold in order to allow movie-goers to sit farther apart. Others — like the Alamo Drafthouse chain — are shutting down entirely.

Alamo Drafthouse made the announcement Monday evening. In a posting to social media, the brand wrote: “We are deeply saddened to announce that all Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations are now closed until further notice.”

According to reports, one franchised location — the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester VA — was staying open. But the brand’s other two dozen locations around the US were closed.

Both AMC and Regal Cinemas have also closed their theaters nationwide due to the outbreak.

Not sure why the Alamo was singled out. All Regal and AMCs are closed as well….

This is such a horrible side effect to this virus. Ford’s was undeniably one of the best seafood restaurant in Loudoun County, and to have to let 155 employees go had to have been a hard decision for them. Any business facing these same problems deserves some help from the Federal Government, whether it be interest-free loans to help them get over this rough stretch, or a way to qualify for free money from the SBA. These small businesses going under through no mismanagement or embezzlement of funds, is going to seriously hurt our economy for years to come, and the lives of these business owners and their employees.
