Dragon Hops Brewing closes permanently amid pandemic woes

Saturday night was reportedly the brewery’s last day in business.

The coronavirus pandemic appears to have claimed its first victim in the local business community (that we have heard of) when Dragon Hops Brewing of Purcellville announced this week they are closing permanently.

Dragon Hops opened in May 2018, but the sudden drop in patrons, the new restrictions on businesses and the need to protect employees were all likely factors that pushed the brewery over the edge.

“We cannot ride out this storm,” the management said on social media.

The brewery planned to be open yesterday and today (Friday and Saturday) — with a maximum of 10 guests at once — and they hoped to sell off all their remaining products at a steep discount.

Dragon Hops wrapped up its announcement with a note of heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you for the great run.”

I’ll miss it. Great place. Full bar, good beer selection, and other extras.
