In times of trouble, it’s always nice when neighbors reach out to help neighbors. That’s what Red Banks of Red’s BBQ & Pizzeria is doing today in Ashburn when he serves up free meals to anyone in need.

Banks and his team have already been out there, in the parking lot of Discovery Elementary off Ashburn Village Boulevard, since before dawn this morning. They’ve got their portable barbecue pit fired up — its nickname is Red Force One — and they are hard at work preparing huge amounts of ribs, smoked chicken, pulled pork and more.

They will be serving food today from 12-2 p.m. to anyone who is struggling and needs a good meal. They ask that guests follow the car line and stay in their vehicles. Team members will bring the food to the cars, packed up ready to go.

Red’s will also be accepting donations of any amount, which will be used to buy more meat and supplies in order to do a free barbecue event again, possibly as soon as next week. If you would like to help, you can reach out to Red for more details at [email protected].
