Echelon Wine Bar opens in downtown Leesburg

The new tucked away space on South King Street features a tasting room as well as private event space.

With all the disruption to the restaurant industry here in Loudoun County, it’s been tough tracking who is open, closed, delayed, or plowing forward. In all that hustle and bustle, we missed the quiet opening of the new Echelon Urban Wine Bar in downtown Leesburg.

Echelon, which is located at 32 South King Street right in the heart of the downtown dining district, is the brainchild from the owners of the Winery at Lost Creek, a winery located north of Leesburg. They wanted to have a retail space in town that would act as “a wine bar, wine education center, private event space and Lost Creek Winery tasting room” — to use their description.

Since they opened at the end of April, the new upscale wine bar has had limited hours and been focusing on carry out dishes along with carry out wines from their extensive list. They also have a walk-in retail wine shop that is open.

Their current to-go tasting menu includes both select small plates and entrees — including a classic antipasto with cured meats and cheese, artichoke and figs, garlic and an oregano focaccia bread; a lemon roasted chicken with olives, pine nuts, yellow peppers and sage; and a dessert of red wine poached cherries with honey mascarpone. You can see Echelon’s current offerings here.
