Locals Tacos & Tequila coming to Sterling shopping center

This is the second upscale taco restaurant to announce plans for Sterling this week.

Another new trendy taco restaurant has announced it is setting up shop in Potomac Falls in Sterling. Locals Tacos & Tequila will be going into the space that the late, great Mokomandy vacated earlier this year. The new restaurant is the latest establishment from Jim Speros, the owner of the local Social House and Velocity Wings restaurants.

The menu at Locals Tacos & Tequila “will feature classic taco creations such as Barbacoa, Tinja, Chorizo, Carnitas and Tequila Lime Shrimp in addition to the area’s most unique fajitas,” according to a press release. “Locals Tacos & Tequila will host a wide variety of the finest tequilas and Mexican beers.”

The 2,300 s.f. restaurant is planning on opening this coming fall. The former Mokomandy space is in Great Falls Plaza, at the intersection of Algonkian Parkway and Lowes Island Boulvard. It’s the first of two Locals Tacos & Tequila locations Speros is working on. He’s also got one under construction in Haymarket.

This is the second cool, new taco restaurant to announce plans to open in Sterling. Just yesterday, The Burn reported on La Prensa Tacos & Tapas that is coming to the Nokes Plaza center off Nokes Boulevard. See that story here.
