Dramatic images of flash flooding in Leesburg

Thursday night’s storms reportedly brought more than 5 inches of rain to some areas around town.

Thursday night’s pounding rainstorms that moved through the Leesburg area led to flash flooding, closed roads, downed trees and even some shallow water rescues where people had to be helped to safety.

A number of local entities including the Town of Leesburg, the Leesburg Police Department and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department posted photos of the storm and its aftermath. We’ve collected some of them here.
