Local police to train at Briar Woods High on Tuesday

Signs will be posted to alert passers-by to what is happening.

If you see unusual police activity around Briar Woods High School in Ashburn on Tuesday, August 11 — don’t be alarmed. County officials have announced that local police agencies will be conducting training at the school.

An announcement was sent out Monday to the community.

“The LCPS Division of Safety and Security, along with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Leesburg Police Department, will hold a training exercise between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, at Briar Woods High School. Residents in the area of Briar Woods might notice a large law enforcement presence. Signs indicating law-enforcement training in progress will be placed in the area to notify the public.”

No word on what specific type of training will be taking place, but getting the word out ahead of time is always a good idea. In the past, law enforcement drills and training have sometimes caused alarm when local communities were not aware they were underway.
