Makers Union Pub opens this week in Reston Town Center

The new modern pub offers a casual atmosphere and an extensive brunch menu.

A new “pub for the people” is preparing to open its doors this week in the Reston Town Center and The Burn has your first look inside. The new establishment is called Makers Union Pub and it has a cool, modern vibe and a brunch menu that will turn heads.

Makers Union is going into the space that was the former home of the American Tap Room on Library Street in the center. The space has been completely made over and features lots of different seating areas with tables, booths, banquettes, and a bar among the options. When we visited, there were still finishing touches being worked on, but the relaxed, casual vibe was clear.

The menu at Makers Union is extensive — featuring oysters, wings, steaks, salmon and a deep fried lasagna that The Burn is going to have to try. The brunch menu includes scotch eggs, cheddar-jalapeño hush puppies and chicken & waffles. You can see the full menus below, unveiled here on The Burn for the first time anywhere.

The owner of Makers Union Pub told us they will open by Friday this week, and if the final preps going smoothly, they could even open their doors tomorrow — Thursday, August 27.

Hey Chris, not sure if this is just native advertising, but it would’ve taken you 5 minutes to google it and see that the same owners as Taproom. Maybe you should’ve written about how all the language about this being “a local restaurant, developed by baristas and bartenders” was bullshit. Like… your job doesn’t have to be boring man. It’s as boring as you make it. Why don’t you write about the relationship between all these ‘town centers’ and why they’re always cycling the same 10 bad restaurants between each other?

I haven’t spent a dime at Reston Town Center since they started charging for parking.

I’m disgusted with Boston Properties. They have lost William Sonoma, Pottery Barn and many others. Now Balducci’s. I hope that space sits unleased for a year or two. Why go to RTC and pay for parking when we can go to One Loudoun and many other great places.

Agree with others, Boston Properties sucked the life out of Reston Town Center. Last time I drove thru(last week), there was 10-12 closed/boarded up shops. If not for Apple relocating to bigger spot, it would look even worse. Many more shops closing up when lease is up since less than 50% are now working at the businesses in that location.
