After a long wait, preliminary site work has started on the new Sheetz gas station and convenience store coming to the Potomac Station Marketplace center in Leesburg. The yet-to-be-built project will be located at the southeast corner of Battlefield Parkway NE and Fort Evans Road NE.
The Burn first broke the news way back in 2018 that a gas station and small retail center, as well as a proposed child care facility were slated for that corner. It will also include some 160 residential units on the site. Some initial roads and sidewalks were laid out, but then the property sat idle for more than a year. In that same time, another Sheetz store at Nokes Plaza in Sterling was announced, built and opened for business.
Now, finally the latest Sheetz store in Leesburg is back in business. A chain link fence is up around the property, banners are hung touting that the store is coming soon, and hiring is underway. Still no official timeline, but these projects tend to move fast once they are rolling. So far, there’s no word on who any of the other tenants in the center will be.
