Local Dunkin’ stores getting new look, new technology

The features include a tap system for pouring the brand’s cold beverages.

The Dunkin’/Baskin-Robbins store in Sterling at the Sugarland Crossing shopping center is celebrating a new look this weekend. Besides refreshed decor, there is a new tap system for beverages as well as kiosk ordering. The move is part of a nationwide update the 50-year-old brand began rolling out to its stores in 2018.

The “Premium Pours” system features eight taps for the brand’s popular cold beverages including coffees, iced teas, cold brew coffee and nitro infused cold brew coffee. Then Dunkin’ team members can customize the cold drinks with toppings.

As part of the “Dunkin’ on Demand” initiative, stores like the one in Sterling are installing digital kiosks where you can order your items without interacting with a Dunkin’ employee. During these times of social distancing, that may prove an attractive feature. There is also now a set pick-up spot for customers who pre-order their food and drinks via the brand’s mobile app.

For the next week — through Friday, September 4 — guests at the Sterling location can get a medium hot coffee or a medium iced coffee for 99 cents to celebrate the makeover.

The owners who run the Sugarland Crossing store also own the Dunkin’/Baskin-Robbins store in Ashburn on Truro Parish Drive. That store will also be getting an upgrade and in the coming weeks.
