Wild Geese Pub & Restaurant opens in Leesburg

The Irish pub is brought to you by the owners of Yummy Pig BBQ.

A new Irish pub and restaurant has opened in the heart of downtown Leesburg, bringing with it a menu full of old pub favorites and new twists on classic dishes.

As regular readers of The Burn know, Wild Geese is the creation of the folks behind the popular Yummy Pig New American BBQ restaurant that moved into its new location at 2 West Market Street back in April. Their new building includes an upstairs — and that’s where Wild Geese is located.

The Wild Geese menu includes dishes such as Irish Nachos made with potatoes and melted cheddar; Corned Beef Eggrolls; and everyone’s favorite — a warm, salty Pub Pretzel. Entrees include the Rashers Grilled Cheese made with Irish back bacon; a beer-battered North Atlantic Cod sandwich; and of course, Irish favorites like Bangers & Mash, Shepherd’s Pie and Corned Beef & Cabbage.

Even better — the full Yummy Pig BBQ menu from downstairs is available upstairs at Wild Geese — and vice versa. Check out the Wild Geese menu below as well as some additional photos of the new pub.

Please spell Shepherd’s Pie Correctly. Thank you. I look forward to trying the new place.

We even paused at that word and thought, “Gee, we should double-check the spelling” and then blew right by it. Thanks for the correction.

While we’re at it, Shepherd’s Pie has lamb and is Irish, while Cottage Pie has beef and is English. But we’re American, so we don’t care.

I gave it a go, to see if the menu lived up to my taste buds, I ordered a good sampling off the menu with my friends, we love good beer and good food…This new restaurant definitely puts their own twist on the recipes which were missing basic ingredients, an Irish chip is a steak fry not french fries, a banger should be pork sausage with very fine oats, not gamey, the shepherds pie was ok, but American version, and had a small cup of the mushy peas to share, and they were mashed sweet peas… (wrong pea!) for the price of a small cup of peas, NOPE!, the egg roles were interesting, I think no one has every been to Ireland here or knows what Shepherds pie really tastes like, so they have their own Yummy Pig version of what they think the food ought to be. Not one staff member asked us if we enjoyed the food. The beer was good…bonus!
