True Food Kitchen in Reston pushes opening to next spring

The healthy dining restaurant concept is coming to the Reston Town Center

True Food Kitchen, a restaurant brand that offers a healthy spin on many of its dishes, is now planning to open at the Reston Town Center in the spring of 2021. This will be the third True Food location in Virginia and the closest to Loudoun County.

True Food is under construction on Democracy Drive in the center, taking over the spot that was previously home to the M&S Grill. It was originally targeting an August 2020 opening, but that timeline has now been pushed back until next spring, probably due in no small part to the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The brand was founded by Dr. Andrew Weil, a proponent of healthy eating with a focus on greens, veggies, fruits and proteins that help fight chronic inflammation. Many of the dishes are gluten-free as well as vegetarian or vegan. Some of the menu items include Edamame Dumplings, Grass-fed Steak Tacos, a Teriyaki Quinoa Bowl and Banana Pancakes. There are also craft cocktails, beer and hard seltzers. You can see the full menu here.

There are currently 42 True Food Kitchens open or in the works, according to the company’s website. The other Virginia locations are in Arlington and Fairfax.
