Well here’s one you don’t hear every day — a new restaurant specializing in African cuisine has opened in Sterling. It’s called Rahama and it’s the fourth location in the DC area for the unique brand.
Rahama has reportedly opened in a small strip center on West Church Road near the intersection with Atlantic Boulevard, just east of Route 28. The exact address is 45665 West Church Road, Unit 103.
The menu at Rahama is filled with interesting dishes, many of them from Central and West Africa, such as Jollof Rice, usually made with tomatoes, onions and meat; Omo tuo, a type of smooth rice ball; a rice and beans dish called Waakye; and Fufu, which is usually a combination of cassava and green plantain. Besides the Sterling location, there are Rahama restaurants Alexandria, Woodbridge and Silver Spring.
