Fans of celebrity chef Santosh Tiptur have been eagerly awaiting the opening of his new restaurant in Sterling. As The Burn has been reporting, it’s called La Prensa Tacos and Tapas Bar and it’s opening in the Nokes Plaza center off Nokes Boulevard. Now we have the official opening date — this coming Thursday, December 3.
The menu at La Prensa — which means “the press” as in the type that flattens soft tortillas — has dueling menus. There are the tacos — where you choose your protein and your toppings. Then there are the tapas — which are Spanish-inspired. The restaurant also has dueling personalities. It’s fast casual — meaning your order at a counter before taking a seat. But there is also a full bar with the gourmet cocktails that Tiptur is famous for. Carry out and delivery will be a big part of the equation at La Prensa. The December 3 opening date is what’s known as a “soft opening” — meaning it’s a chance for the new staff to learn the ropes and for Tiptur and his team to make sure all systems are go. So if you stop by in these early days, cut them some slack as they smooth out their operations.
