Firefly Cellars coming to Loudoun this spring

The new wine tasting room and patio also features two cottages available for weekend getaways.

A new wine experience is on its way to Loudoun County — another stop for oenophiles as they tour the county’s wineries and tasting rooms. It’s called Firefly Cellars and it’s scheduled to open in Hamilton this spring.

Firefly Cellars has taken over a large property on Charlestown Pike. They are giving an old barn structure a complete overhaul — new roof, new floors, new paint, new lighting, renovated kitchen area — the whole works. When it opens in April, it will be a large indoor tasting room with a big patio outside and seating and fire pits scattered around the scenic property.

The tasting room will offer wines from Cave Ridge Winery in Mount Jackson, Virginia. The starting lineup includes a white Reisling blend, a Viognier, a Chardonnay, a Chambourcin, a Cab Franc, a Petit Verdot, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a red blend, a port, a sweet Traminette, and a Blanc de Blanc. To start, there will also be small plates to nosh on while sipping said wines.

Firefly also has two buildings — the Cottage and the Cabin — that can be rented out. The Cottage is the smaller building — perfect for two people looking for an overnight getaway, while the Cabin is larger and ideal for bridal parties, private dinners and other special events. Both the Cottage and the Cabin are open now. Finally, the old garage is being made over into the Cellar, a stone-walled storage area for Firefly’s extensive wine offerings that will also include a small area for private events.

One interesting note — the family behind Firefly Cellars are also the folks behind PMSI, a well-known pest control company based in Ashburn.

    Very nice!
I will really be impressed if there is a safe entrance off the W&OD, so walkers, cyclists, etc. can access this facility without having to venture out onto dangerous Rt. 9.
